COMRADE EDET OKON ABANG EMENYI

This is an extremely special moment for me in the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Akwa Ibom State Wing.

I, from the onset of my inception in office as the State Chairman did talk about setting achievable goals during my tenure. I am grateful to the entire teachers of Akwa Ibom State for giving me the opportunity to serve in this capacity and to work for the better condition of service for teachers and to lead the teachers statewide. I did promise to strive in every way to be worthy of your confidence comrades great teachers of Akwa Ibom State, recalled that in my acceptance speech as the State Chairman, I did say that I firmly believe that Union exert an impact on the learning condition of the school system and total wellbeing of the teachers by fostering a balancing learning outcome and access to lifelong learning and education, research and innovation, and motivation for all sectors of education. In this way, NUT can contribute to building stronger communities and societies and strong government relations.

Once again, permit me to use this platform to sincerely thank the government, the Governors for ever giving listening ears and for their apt attention towards solving problems as it affect teachers and school learners in Akwa Ibom State.

Comrade teachers, it is crystal clear that public education sector, the learners and society at large is faced with undisputable education challenges in the State.

​

The public school system in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large is currently undergoing intense pressure and lacks definition. As major stakeholders, we do not want the State of Education in our time to continue sagging, or the standard endanger – therefore, to this end, we have joint hands to raise our standard and build our status.

Our vision in establishing the website is

To enhance the learning skills of our learners for high quality education delivery at primary and secondary education levels with a view to uplifting the standard of the education in our state and country Nigeria.

Our mission

To upgrade/update and inform learners through teachers knowledge and skills in curriculum implementation while instilling in them the virtues of commitment, discipline and resourcefulness.

The Union’s vision in developing website shall be realized through the pursuit of the following goals:

• Nurturing commitment to lifelong learning that is creative innovative, and responsive to changes in the world of knowledge in the changing needs of society.

• Designing and enriching subject content to ensure that the learners and teacher trainees attain a high level of mastery of the subject matter.

• Offering career choice guidance services to our teeming learners in choosing career choice opportunity

• Building the capacity lifelong learners in the  use of effective communication skills and relevant technologies for the delivery of quality education;

• Monitoring, evaluation and feedback mechanism to ensure effective and efficient service delivery;

• Developing capacity for effective selection and deployment of relevant technology which would include information and communication technology for  effective distance learning delivery;

• Reviewing and revitalizing learning skills among learners of all categories.

• Ensuring the exams class content syllabus is covered and sample model questions and answers are show cased for effective learning outcome and to bring learners in line with challenging realities.

OUR FUNCTION

• To contribute towards promoting early childhood education and development in our state, and country Nigeria

• To use every possible means to provide for each child learner in Nigeria the optimum conditions and information, knowledge for his wellbeing development and happiness in his family, institution, society, and to support scientific skill technology and development which can influence these conditions

• To support any career choice teaching undertaking capable of improving early childhood education and care.

However, to this end, our portal shall be open 24 hours to all learners, educators and any other group of persons who may find it useful.
